Appointments

All consultations are by appointment only. They are divided into routine and acute appointments. To understand how best to prepare for your appointment see

Requesting Your Appointment

To ensure you receive the most appropriate care, our reception staff may ask a few questions about your reason for visiting.

If your appointment is for a specialized procedure, please specify this when booking.

If you have multiple concerns, please book an extended consultation to allow adequate time. Otherwise, you may be asked to schedule a follow-up appointment.

Urgent cases will be accommodated on the same day when possible, but we may not be able to offer a choice of doctor or time.

We will be opening online appointment bookings in Summer 2025 on the PIPPO portal - you can register your details by creating an account now - to find out more click the following link

How to Book selected appointments with Dr Kenny’s Charlestown Practice online using Pippo

Please Read First

Before you begin:

  • You must register on Pippo first. If you haven’t, click here to register.

  • For now, we are trialling Pippo in 2025. This means we are only offering a small number of appointment types through Pippo to begin with.

  • We hope to offer more services online over time, so please be patient with us while we test and improve the system.

How to Book an Appointment

Step 1: Log in to Pippo

Go to https://app.pippo.ie
Enter your email and password.
Then click Log In.

Why this matters:
This is your secure way to access your personal appointments and prescriptions.

Step 2: Click on “Book Appointment”

Once you're logged in, you’ll see your homepage.
Click the button that says “Book Appointment”.

Why this matters:
This brings you to the full list of appointment types available at the practice.

Step 3: Choose the Appointment Type

You’ll see a list of appointment types (e.g. Flu Vaccine, Repeat Prescription Review, etc.)

Click the one that applies to you.

Why this matters:
Only certain appointments are available during the trial. Please pick from the available list.

Step 4: Choose a Day and Time

Use the calendar to pick a date and time that suits you.
You will only see available time slots.

Why this matters:
You can only book into open slots — if a day looks empty, it might already be full or not open for online booking yet.

Step 5: Confirm Your Booking

Once you’ve chosen your time, click “Confirm” or “Book”.
You’ll get a confirmation message.

Why this matters:
Once booked, your appointment is sent directly to the practice system. No need to call to confirm.

What Happens Next?

  • You’ll get a confirmation email or text.

  • You can log back in at any time to view or cancel your appointment.

  • If you need urgent help or can’t find the right slot, please call the practice.

What Can I Book Right Now?

Right now, you can only book a limited set of appointments, including:

  • Flu vaccines

  • Repeat prescription reviews

  • Some chronic disease management check-ins

❗We plan to expand this list as the system grows and we see what works best for our patients.

Late for Your Appointment

If you are running late, please inform us by phone or email. We will do our best to accommodate you, but alternative options may be offered based on availability. Our punctuality policy will apply where necessary.

Cancelling Your Appointment

If you need to cancel, please inform us as soon as possible by calling reception so we can offer the slot to another patient.

To cancel an appointment more than 24 hours in advance, click here.

Chaperone Policy

Your privacy, dignity, and cultural beliefs will always be respected. Intimate examinations will only be conducted with your consent, and you will be offered a chaperone if you wish.

You may request a chaperone when booking, upon arrival at the practice (by informing reception), or at any time during your consultation.
